Have a 3 year old Labrador Retriever who constantly jumps on me. It is difficult to play with him as he is huge and is often close to knocking me over. How do I train him not to jump? For those of you who are wondering: Yes, I do take him for regular walks.
Its all about consistency, this will show you how

Of course it isn’t your fault he jumps. The second he does this, turn your back on him and keep it at him. Don’t look at him. Dogs are pack animals and these signals will hint at him that you will not tolerate that. It should stop quickly if you do it timely and don’t let him jump! It can just confuse him so tell everyone in your family to do it. When he stops trying to jump and get in your face, turn back around so he knows what’s bothering you. Just a simple misunderstanding… You don’t need to hold him to the ground because this establishes fear, not a relationship.

for one your starting A lil late to fix this problem he is 3 years old now and dominant at what he is doing. what i would do is have a friend or family member to ring the door bell and as he gets estatic get him to sit by offering a treat but only as a reward then repeat the process a few times after that have him in a room or hallway with a gate let your company in in view of the dog try to reward him by getting him to sit and stay and dont let him out till he calms down this will take some time but just keep at it he is 3 years old remember that

Knee him in the stomach when he jumps up. That’ll show him.

It helps if you have two people, have one person put him in a sit stay and the other come inside, if he jumps turn around and give him no attention until he sits down, hence he learns that jumping will not get him attention.

labradors are very playful and seem to act like puppies forever, but like any dog, they love making you happy, so the best way to train him is to use a reward system. The first thing to do is to understand why your dog does this.
well, dogs jump up as a sign of greeting and submission, so your dog actually thinks he is being polite when he does this. However it is still not ok in the human world. We have to train him to realise that NOT jumping up is polite.
Teach the dog to jump on cue by encouraging him to jump by saying “Up” and patting your knees. when he does Give him a pet. Then look away and ingnore him. When you feel the dog get off, say “down” and have a party! Give him the jackpot of his life—tons of food, calm petting, praise, and lots of attention. Repeat a billion times.
alternatively, you can simply say "DOWN" in a stern voice and push him down then reward him when he gets down.
