I use an Acme 211.5 pitch with my young Whippet (a clicker would be totally useless with the distance she covers!!) which I bought, complete with lanyard, on Ebay. Works really well.

Horaayy..there are 5 comment(s) for me so far ;)

dont; use a clicker i think it is less annoying. Just ask a cashier or staff at petco/petsmart and they should know what you’re talking about

If you’re not afraid to raise the pitch of your voice to praise when he does something right then there’s no need for anything. I don’t mean shouting! A dog has better hearing than a human! Use arm signals too. That way you can control from a distance whenever your dog looks towards you. Obedience training is for your dog’s own welfare so give it a go. It’s not expensive and you’ll enjoy it. You may even want to try agility training, your lab will learn even quicker if having fun! ie. When you want them to go left, guide them and keep saying the command. It does work for EVERY command. Sit. Lay. Stand. Etc etc. Have fun.
